The Return of the Lyrical Godzilla
Gidzeey breaks out of his lyrical hiatus and sets the airwaves on fire with these double bangers- “Nina Simone” and “Desire“; an Extended Play (EP).
That sees the lyrical Godzilla spitting fire and hardcore punchlines that will once again bring back this rap genius to our consciousness especially after he dropped his critically acclaimed singles- Mummy Why and Mary Jane
Nina Simone the name and inspiration behind this EP Gidzeey make reference to is the late legendary American singer, songwriter, musician, arranger, and civil rights activist.
Her musical genre spanned classical, jazz, blues, folk, R&B, gospel, and pop.
Desire: The First Track
The first track on the EP “Desire” is truly one done with so much desire with Gidzeey starting off in a rather somber and commital mode.
You can fill the profundity of his lyrics, the flows were dropped in successive laps and you will truly appreciate the sublime and well laid out lyrics and vocals.
Nina Simone: Second Track
Nina Simone had a little bit of trap beats, with Gidzeey jumping on the track infusing some rather infectious and well-colored vocals, in a rendition that accentuates the beauty of the African people!
At some point, the song takes a brief break as we hear the voice of the Legendary Nina, eulogizing The Black People. Making attribution to the Power of being black, even as she asserts that “Black people are the most beautiful creatures in the World!”
You will really feel the Pan Africaness in this track, I kinda loved the fast-paced delivery Gidzeey embedded in every rhyme, beat, and rhythm of this piece,
The EP was mixed and mastered by AB Young Studios. Who did a thorough job in creating a sound built on a soft and slow pitch as well as a tempo that will drive the song to you in a manner that confounds yet excites you.
Gidzeey once again shows that he is a gem waiting in the ranks to dominate Hip Hop in Nigeria. I mean dude’s DNA is synonymous with dropping good songs and classics that reverberate and stays in your consciousness every time he spits.
Nina Simone is one helluva EP , a Two track compilation that truly rocks!
