MEET EBUKA OBI UCHENDU (CELEBRITY HANGOUT ON GBEDUSTREET)

If you have ever watched the BIG BROTHER NAIJA and noticed that fine looking young man, yep, he is known as Ebuka. There are some stuffs that people don’t really know about him and today we are gonna be looking at how he started, when he got his break, how life is for him and oh well, if there is any Eve in his garden.

BEGINNING

His full name is Chukwuebuka Obi-Uchendu, born in the year 1982. He is from Anambra state, Nigeria although he was born in Edo state to a father who is a banker and a mother who is a nurse. Its safe to say he didn’t grow on the streets like the way we all imagine every celebrity to start. Ebuka actually studied Law in Abuja at the Nigeria Law School and then went on to graduate from the Washington college of Law of the American university Washington DC.

He graduated with Masters of Laws degree specializations in intellectual property as well as communications law from the Law and Government program.

It is almost no news that he was among the first set of BIG BROTHER NAIJA housemates. Although he didn’t win, he finished on the eight position, he is arguably the most successful BIG BROTHER NAIJA housemate.

After the reality show in 2006, he signed some endorsement deals and started hosting some shows while he handled a weekly column on the Nigerian national daily for over four years.

SUCCESS STORY

In 2013 Ebuka was announced as the new host for RUBBING MINDS and EBONYLIFE TV. He had interviewed many top acts back then. The likes of Banky W, Seun Kuti, Davido and others.

Also in 2013, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu became one of the co-hosts of The Spot, showing on EbonyLife TV on DSTV channel 165 alongside Lamide Akintobi. The show airs every weekday across 48 African countries.

In July 2014, he joined Arit Okpo as a co-host on the new chat show Naija Politics. The show which has panelists discussing politics in Nigeria, airs every week on EbonyLifeTV.

In July 2016, he became the host of Men’s Corner, Nigeria’s first all male TV talk show

Awards

He was nominated in the On-Air Personality category of the future awards for 2007  and 2008 consecutively. As well as Outstanding TV Presenter of the Year (Male) at the Nigerian Broadcaster’s Merit Awards in 2013, 2014 and 2015 which he won.

In 2011, he was selected as a Global Shaper – an exclusive group of young emerging leaders across the world – with the world economic leaders.

In 2013, he was honored by the Federal Government as one of the Best 100 Young Nigerians in one of the events to mark Nigeria’s 100th anniversary as a union.

PERSONAL LIFE

On 15 April 2015 Ebuka got engaged to HR manager, Cynthia Obianodo in Lagos They got married on 6 February 2016 in Abuja. On 8 November 2016, they welcomed a daughter. In 2018 they announced they were expecting another child via Instagram.
